Rehoboth Beach Chocolate Festival to be held March 2

February 5, 2013

It's a day for chocolate lovers as Rehoboth Beach Main Street and The Friends of the Rehoboth Beach Public Library sponsor the 23rd Annual Chocolate Festival from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. Admission is $2. Children under 5 get in free.

Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at the Rehoboth Beach Main Street office, Azura Clothing, Snyder’s Candy, Cake Break or the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel.

There are two ways to participate:
• Bake or make something. Restaurants, bakeries and chefs, plus amateur bakers or candymakers from all over the area can submit entries for the baking contest. The Chocolate Baking Contest at the heart of the festival is open to anyone who wants to enter. Winners will receive prizes, plaques or ribbons.

Entry forms and details are available by calling 302-227-2772 or go to www.downtownrehoboth.com. Participants may also fill out entry forms on the morning of the event. All entries must arrive at the convention center between 7 and 8:30 a.m., Saturday morning. They may leave their entries and come back later to see if they have won.

• Taste the entries, shop from the vendors, enjoy a kids’ activity from 11:30 to 3:30. It's $2 to get in and then 50 cents for each sample taste.  Extra tastes are sold at the event. Call 302-227-2772 for ticket information.

Volunteer chocolate cutters for the Chocolate Festival are still needed, contact Priscilla Smith at 302-227-8259.
