Viking Ventures spreads Cape High news via the internet

February 5, 2013

This year, the staff of the Viking Ventures student newspaper at Cape Henlopen High School has decided to try something completely new. Instead of just printing physical copies, there now is a news website available for everyone to view at www.CapeVikingVentures.com.

Since so many people actively use the internet every day, it was decided that having the website would be a great way to get the news out quicker and to a wider audience. "Having this website helps us to progress in the world of journalism. Everything is online now, and this is keeping us at the same level of real media," said junior Griffin Kammerer, assistant editor of the Viking Ventures.

On the website, many more articles are published than can fit in the printed papers alone, giving light to much more student writing. All published articles are divided into news, sports, student life, opinion, or arts and entertainment categories, and are easy for anyone to access using the home page of the site.

When visiting CapeVikingVentures.com, not only can you find articles written by the Viking Ventures staff, but also there are many other features. The website gives access to a calendar of upcoming events related to Cape publications and the high school as well.

Another interesting feature of the website is the entire staff of the paper can be seen. Site visitors can look at their pictures, read their biographies and see all the articles they have published. There are also sports scores and polls to answer. The website can be easily viewed on Android and iPhone smartphones as a mobile version. There is also the option to subscribe to the Viking Ventures email list to receive updates on new articles posted on the website.

CapeVikingVentures.com is easy to navigate and has news for everyone. The editor in chief of Viking Ventures, junior Romy Stancofski, said, "I am so excited about the website because it's helping us stay more up-to-date as a publication. It's great, because now anyone can keep up with Cape news with just the click of a button!"
