Delaware Multiple Sclerosis Society announces 2013 walks

Sussex County walks set for May 31 and June 7
February 10, 2013

The Delaware Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society has announced the 2013 Walk MS dates and is inviting all Delawareans to join the movement. Walk MS is a nationwide rallying point to help raise critical funds that support cutting-edge research, drive change through advocacy, facilitate professional education, and provide programs and services to help people with MS move their lives forward.

In a show of support, each year thousands of loved ones, friends and neighbors throughout Delaware - from Wilmington’s Riverfront to Sussex County’s Baywood Greens - lace up and step out in solidarity, with hopes of creating a world free of MS.

“The turnout and support from our participants at Walk MS has been incredible,” said Emilee Keyser, Delaware Chapter event manager. “Last year, we raised over a quarter million dollars to help out the 1,550 Delawareans currently living with multiple sclerosis. We’re able to raise this money because all of our participants are so committed to the same goal - finding a cure for MS. If you share our goal, we hope that you will join the movement this year by walking, volunteering or recruiting others.”

Sussex County dates and sites include a Friday, May 31, Twilight at Heritage Shores event and a Friday, June 7, event at Baywood Greens.  Registration for both walks begins at 5 p.m., followed by the walks at 6 p.m.

To register, visit www.delawarewalk.org or call 302-655-5610.  Walks are approximately 2-3 mile courses. Join as an individual, join a team or create a team.  Raise at least $100 and get a free Walk MS T-shirt.
