Gerald 'J.R.' Wingate, loved the outdoors

Gerald E. “J.R.” Wingate Jr., 45, of Georgetown passed away at his home Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013.

He was born in the Philippines, son of Gerald and Virginia Wingate. He was a master mechanic for the state of Delaware. J.R. had a love for the outdoors; he was an avid hunter, enjoyed riding four wheelers, loved dirt track racing, fishing and was a competitive archer. He loved farming, gardening and animals. He was a member of the Harley Riding Club.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Elsie Howard and Jasper and Elizabeth Wingate; his great aunt, Florence Wingate; sister-in-law, Donna Rae Bunting and many aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly (Bunting) Wingate; his parents, Gerald and Virginia (Howard) Wingate Sr.; a daughter, Kodi Wingate; a sister, Tammy Rust (Mark) and their children Jaclyn and Justin; brothers-in-law, Scott Bunting (Jan) and Mark Bunting (Tammie); sister-in-law, Christine Thomas (James) and their son Bryan and his son La’Bryan; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sylvester and Barbara Bunting; aunt and uncle, Jerald and Maxine Howard and their children, J.P. Howard, Joel Howard (Heather) and Jaime Howard; aunt, Judy Howard; many cousins and friends and his  four-legged companions, Tjark, Lenny Holle. Kloe

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 8. at the Frankford chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St, Frankford. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, at the funeral home, where friends and family may call after noon. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Georgetown. The Rev. Jerald Howard will officiate.
