Sussex County Vice President of the Delaware State Federation of Women's Clubs Henrietta Belcher-Stack will be presenting a program highlighting the Women of the General Federation of Women's Clubs Saturday, March 16, at the Zwaanendael Women's Club, Third Street and Savannah Road in Lewes during an open house scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m.

The General Federation of Women's Clubs, founded in 1890, is an international women's organization dedicated to community improvement and enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. GFWC is one of the world's largest and oldest nonpartisan, nondenominational, women's volunteer service organizations. The GFWC is a unifying force, bringing together local women’s clubs. With 100,000 members in affiliated clubs in every state and more than a dozen countries, GFWC members are community leaders who work locally to create global change by advocating for domestic violence awareness and prevention, supporting the arts, preserving natural resources, advancing education, promoting healthy lifestyles, encouraging civic involvement and working toward world peace and understanding.

For more information go to www.gfwc.org or contact Belcher-Stack at 302-354-4102.

Accomplishments during GFWC's first century include establishing 75 percent of the country's public libraries, developing kindergartens in the public schools, and working for food and drug regulation.

GFWC club women are true volunteers in action.  In 2009, GFWC members raised more than $39 million on behalf of more than 110,000 projects, and volunteered more than 4.1 million hours in the communities where they live and work.
