U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary shows up for swimmers at Polar Plunge

A contingent of 053-12 volunteers from the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary provided support for the safety of swimmers during the Polar Bear Plunge, a Feb. 3 charity event on behalf Special Olympics Delaware. The auxiliary helped coordinate communications with the offshore Coast Guard vessel and was ready to assist any swimmer who might have trouble in their designated beach area. Other helpers came from Delaware police agencies, fire departments and event staff.
