Ronald L. Stephens, accomplished Realtor

Ronald L. Stephens, 78, of Dagsboro, passed away at his home Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013.
He was a graduate of Lord Baltimore High School class of 1952 and attended Goldey Beacom College in Wilmington. He served his country as an Army Ranger and paratrooper, having made 136 jumps, serving in Thailand, South East Asia and Vietnam. He sailed as a merchant seaman for Atlantic Refining Company out of Philadelphia. He also worked for the Delaware Housing Authority as a certified property manager.
Ron was a Realtor and was past president of the Sussex County Board of Realtors, past president of Delaware Association of Realtors and national director of the National Association of Realtors. He owned the first Century 21 office at the beaches and assisted in the sale of Anderson Stokes Real Estate Company. He was a former Bethany Beach lifeguard and a member of the Ocean View Church of Christ. Ron enjoyed sailing with his wife in the Chesapeake Bay and the American Virgin Islands. He was past president of Cripple Creek Country Club and helped supervise the construction of their clubhouse.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ellen Powell Stephens.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 20, at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road in Ocean View, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Interment will be private at a later date in the Powell family plot in Princess Anne, Md.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Vitas Hospice, 1016 N. Walnut St., Milford, DE 19963.
