We don't need another pharmacy

February 19, 2013

I see where CVS Pharmacy has broken ground at Five Points to construct a brand new pharmacy.  This raises the question, "Is there a need for another local pharmacy?"

Consider the following facts.  Currently in the Rehoboth Beach/Lewes corridor there are 11 pharmacies.  The most recent addition was the Walgreen's adjacent to where the new one is being constructed.  This should be called Pharmacy Row!

Look at the current pharmacy list:  SuperFresh; CVS on Route 1; Walgreen's (two locations); Safeway; Giant; Kmart; Rite Aid (two locations); WalMart; and the Health Mart/Cape Pharmacy at Five Points.  This locally managed pharmacy will be hurt the most.

I can think of many things that could be put there where the new pharmacy is being constructed.  What would you like to see there instead of another CVS?
