Tidewater Utilities Inc., announces the selection of YWCA Delaware as the beneficiary to receive proceeds from Tidewater’s sixth annual Charity Golf Tournament to be held Monday, Aug. 12.

YWCA Delaware was selected from scores of applications primarily because of its positive impact in the Sussex County community and its many programs which provide women with the support and inspiration to reach their potential. Proceeds from this year’s outing will help support YWCA Girl, a program that improves the lives of low-income, at-risk girls by helping them graduate from high school and offering guidance to help them on a path to achieve their higher education and career goals.

YWCA Delaware was founded in 1895 and is a statewide organization dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Annually, nearly 7,000 people participate in its comprehensive programs. YWCA Delaware is a leading advocate for women by providing housing, violence prevention, economic empowerment, racial justice and youth programming. YWCA Delaware serves women, men and children of all ages, races, religions and socioeconomic backgrounds.

“We are excited to partner with Tidewater Utilities this year, and appreciate that they share our commitment to advancing educational, economic and social opportunities for at-risk girls in Sussex County,” said YWCA CEO Genevieve B. Marino.

Over the last five years, Tidewater has donated more than $54,000 to six different nonprofit organizations in Delaware. To learn more about this year’s outing, call Joe Cuccinello at 302-747-1307.
