Senior caregiver awarded 2012 Angel of the Year

Visiting Angels rewards Geraldine Lofland for exemplary service
February 27, 2013

Visiting Angels of Sussex has named Geraldine Lofland of Bridgeville its 2012 Angel of the Year for her consistent exemplary service as a caregiver.

The home care company provides services to help seniors and disabled adults remain independent and in their own homes for a better quality of life.

Lofland has worked both private duty and at senior care facilities for nearly a decade, and says she now enjoys the one-on-one attention she is able to provide to care recipients in the privacy of their own homes.

David Forman, president of Visiting Angels, said, “A year-ong customer satisfaction survey scored high marks for service and multiple comments of praise for Geraldine. She is often the first to respond to emergency requests to fill shifts, and her consistent compassion and hard work have made her one of our most requested caregivers.”

Lofland is one of more than 70 Visiting Angels employees throughout Sussex County who assist with hygiene, light housekeeping including laundry and linens, preparing meals, running errands, and providing companionship in the home and on errands and appointments with their care recipients.

Visiting Angels rewards employees based on their customer care, and willingness to step in to meet the agency’s needs, even when on short notice.

“We’re blessed to count Geraldine among our very best employees,” said Forman. “Our angels are the face and image of our company, and we only employ those who we would trust with our own families.”
