Rehoboth Art League announces 2013 Beaux Arts Ball

February 27, 2013

For the first time since 1994, the masks will be coming out to play at the Rehoboth Art League’s Beaux Arts Ball. Set for Saturday, Sept. 21, at beautiful Belle Meade Farm on Route 24, this signature event will be the highlight of the Rehoboth Art League’s 75th anniversary year.

The masquerade costume Beaux Arts Ball is a long-cherished tradition of Rehoboth Art League members and friends. After the Rehoboth Art League was founded in 1938, the annual costume Artists’ Ball began the following year and continued for the next 40 years. Now, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary, the ball is back!

With a reputation for being both richly entertaining and hugely successful, the Beaux Arts Ball is more than just a grand old party. Throughout its history, the ball has raised funds to support the art league’s mission and programs. This year is no exception, with the focus on education and outreach. Art classes are offered for all ages and skill levels. Exhibitions, studios, lectures and discussions of contemporary art, sculpture, printmaking, illustrating and textiles are all available. Art league instructors offer free visual arts education classes to hundreds of disadvantaged youth each year, and recognize young artists with the Young at Art Show.

Especially exciting for Beaux Arts Ball 2013 is the newly announced venue. Belle Meade Farm owners Mark and Mary Ann Ronald have offered the use of their pristine equestrian ranch. The 20,000-square-foot facility on more than 40 acres just west of Route 1 between Rehoboth and Lewes, was just completed in January 2012. Its natural beauty and aesthetic appeal add to the allure and luster of this year’s ball.

The theme for this year’s event is It's All About Art!, as the diamond jewel of the Diamond State celebrates its 75th anniversary. Information will follow about entertainment, honorary guests and promotional prize packages for two called the Cinderella Special. Media partners to date include Clear Channel Radio and Shore Life Magazine. Other sponsorship opportunities are available by contacting the Rehoboth Art League at 302-227-8408.

Tickets for the Beaux Arts Ball will go on sale in July. For more information on the Beaux Arts Ball and Rehoboth Art League classes, special events and exhibitions during the 75th anniversary, go to www.rehobothartleague.org.

The Rehoboth Art League is funded, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
