3rd Annual Chili Cook-Off benefits needy children

Lewes event slated March 10
March 2, 2013

St. Peter’s Church will be celebrating its 3rd Annual Chili Cook-Off at 5 p.m., Sunday, March 10, in the Parish Hall, located at the corner of Second and Mulberry streets in downtown Lewes.

Cape Gazette’s own Denise Clemons will be judging the entries for all three categories (meat, vegetarian, other), and prizes will be awarded to the winner of each category.

Anyone who would like to enter this year’s contest, should make enough ready-to-serve chili to feed 10, and deliver it to the Parish Hall no later than 4:30 p.m. on the day of the event. To register for the contest, or for more information, contact Patty Soffronoff at 302-827-2284, the church office at 302-645-8479 or office@stpeterslewes.org.

The church usually asks parishioners to bring a salad, side dish or dessert to share, and extends that invitation to everyone. The cook-off has always been a wonderful event packed full of fun and food while benefitting a rewarding cause.

St. Peter’s Chili Cook is a donation-only event that benefits the children of their companion parish, Centro Infantil San Pablo in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Any donation would be greatly appreciated, and is tax deductible. Centro Infantil provides exceptional education and learning opportunities to indigent children throughout the San Miguel area.
