Cape school district announces kindergarten registration

Children who will turn 5 on or before Aug. 31, 2013, whose parents reside in the Cape Henlopen School District, are eligible to be registered for the 2013-14 Kindergarten Program. Parents should call the elementary school their child will attend to schedule an appointment for registration and DIAL screening.

Screening will take place at the time of the appointment, so parents should bring their child, along with the following: child’s birth certificate from the Bureau of Vital Statistics; immunization records (including proof of Hepatitis B and Varicella vaccine); proof of residency in the Cape Henlopen School District; and directions to the family’s home or to the day care provider parents intend to use in September. DIAL screening will give the child the opportunity to try some kindergarten activities and to meet staff members at the school he or she will attend.

H.O. Brittingham Elementary School, 302-684-8522, 400 Mulberry St., Milton will hold registration and screening from 3 to 7 p.m., Wednesdays, March 20, April 17 and May 15.

Milton Elementary School, 302-684-2516, 512 Federal St., Milton, will hold registration and screening from 3 to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 21; Tuesday, April 16; Wednesday, May 1; and Thursday, May 16.

Rehoboth Elementary School, 302-227-3068, 504 Stockley St., Rehoboth Beach, will register and screen students from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 13; Tuesday, April 16; and Wednesday, May 8.

Richard A. Shields Elementary School, 302-645-7748, 910 Shields Ave., Lewes, will be open for registration and screening from 4 to 6:45 p.m., Wednesday, March 27; Tuesday, April 23; and Thursday, May 2.
