Gallery One to host spring workshops starting April 13

Gallery One in Ocean View announces three spring classes with artists Nick Serratore, Rosemary Connelly and Kirk McBride.

Serratore will lead Pasta and Pastels from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, April 13. Participants will learn to the many possibilities of working on Wallis pastel paper with washes and layering and will also enjoy an Italian feast prepared by Chef Nick featuring pasta and fagioli. Serratore is a member of the Pastel Society of America and graduated from the Hussian School of Art in Philadelphia. The cost is $75. Watercolor Journaling with Rosemary Connelly is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, May 18 and 19.  Participants will discover the joys of keeping a watercolor journal and how to incorporate drawing, painting and writing in a way that will delight and inspire. This class is geared for beginners, but all levels are welcome. The fee is $100.

Connelly is both a teacher and exhibiting artist. She studied fine art and graphic design at Mesa Community College and Arizona State College, and began traveling and teaching after 20 years as a graphic designer

McBride will teach Plein Air Tune-Up from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2. He will show students how to organize themselves, their painting gear, and their thought processes to make plein air painting a more enjoyable and successful experience. The class will paint outdoors in nearby areas. Some plein air painting experience preferred but not necessary. The fee is $160.

McBride has painted in Paint Annapolis, Paint Easton and the Laguna Beach Plein Air invitational and is an elected artist member of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painter’s Association.
