Archaeological society continues speaker series March 21
The Archaeological Society of Delaware Sussex Chapter will present its March Speaker Series at the Lewes Historical Society Schoolhouse on Thursday, March 21 from 7 to 9 p.m.
The speaker, Dr Edward Otter, will present Cemeteries: A Final Resting Place?
Cemeteries are spread across Delmarva. Besides the churchyards and corporate run cemeteries, there are hundreds of family plots and Native American burials. Some are marked and some are not. Dr. Otter has been involved in recording, delineating and sometimes removing historic and prehistoric burials found during the process of modern development.
Dr. Otter is the President and Principal of Edward Otter Inc., an archeological consulting firm based in Salisbury, Maryland. He has over 25 years experience in archaeological investigation and cemetery studies. He will talk about some of his experiences and what he has learned about cemeteries during his career.
The public is welcome. The ASD is an open group and the Society invites new membership. For more information go to www.delawarearchaeology.org.
