Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s International Realty has announced the recent addition of top area Realtors Anne Powell and Jennifer Hughes to their team of real estate professionals.

“We are excited to welcome both Anne and Jen to our team at Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s,” said Justin Healy, broker at OASIR. “They have both made a substantial impact in the real estate market over the past few years, with a significant focus in the Bethany/Fenwick market and surrounding areas. We feel they are an important addition to our team as we concentrate our efforts on expanding growth in that market area.”

After graduating from the University of Delaware in 1980, Powell went on to earn her masters in educational technology shortly thereafter. She has earned numerous accolades for her contributions in both the fields of finance and education, including graduating from a Fortune 500 Management Program, working with the U.S. Department of Labor on community college curriculum development, participating on task forces with the Delaware Department of Education, and serving on the board for Delaware Congress of Parents and Teachers.

She is passionate about giving back to the community, having served on a number of nonprofit boards including the capital campaign committee for the Indian River Inlet center. Powell also earned the Community Employee of the Year award in 2012 for her volunteer work and is a multi-year benefactor for the South Coastal Library Beach Cottage Tour.

After becoming a Realtor in 2006, she soon joined forces with Hughes at Seacoast Realty (now ResortQuest Realty) of Bethany Beach. Born and raised in Baltimore, Md., Hughes spent summers with her family in Bethany Beach and moved to the area permanently in 2001.  She has an extensive background in mortgage lending, as she owned and operated her own successful mortgage company for 13 years in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Pennsylvania before becoming a licensed Delaware Realtor in 2006.   Both Hughes and Powell have since obtained their Maryland salesperson and Delaware brokers’ licenses.

Working together, they have had award-winning years in real estate from 2006 through 2012.

“We are truly excited to become members of the Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s Realty team,” said Powell. “We are immersed in the southern Delaware real estate market, passionate about the people and places here, and delighted to see a marked improvement in sales and showings across all property price ranges. We feel Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s fits well with our brand image and the professionalism we bring to every transaction.”
