Plein Air Painting for Kids March 30 at Dickinson Plantation

March 19, 2013

Plein Air Painters of the Mid-Atlantic invite children ages 8 and older to Plein Air Painting for Kids from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, March 30, in celebration of Arts in Education Month.

This outdoor event will be held at the John Dickinson Plantation, 340 Kitts Hummock Road, Dover. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held under cover.

The plein air artists will guide the children individually through the process of painting outdoors to produce a simple sketch and finished painting, just as famous artists like Claude Monet and Winslow Homer did.

Children are asked to wear washable clothing or bring a large shirt for cover-up. All skill levels are welcome. This free activity includes the use of professional art supplies provided by PAPMA.

The Plein Air Painters of the Mid-Atlantic, based in Kent County, Delaware, paint together regularly and promote the style of painting outdoors in natural light at public and historic locations primarily in Delaware and the Eastern Shore. PAPMA 2013 painting locations will include the Delaware History Trail & Passport, which includes the John Dickinson Plantation.

Preregistration is welcome, but not necessary. Contact PAPMA member Maria Liberto Bessette at 302-241-5919.
