March 19, 2013

Well-known local artist  Amie Sloan has been named honorary chairperson for the first VIA Seaside Art Show, to be held Saturday, May 18, at the Village Improvement Association’s newly renovated clubhouse off the Boardwalk at Grenoble Place in Rehoboth Beach.

Now 94 years of age, Amie is known for her achievements in pottery and anthropology, and other contributions to art and life at the beach. She taught pottery at the Rehoboth Art League and Osher Lifelong Learning for many years before retiring.

Amie will be present during the show at the heritage artists mini-exhibit of the VIA featuring the work of artists and VIA members, such as her aunt, Ethel Leach, a founding member of both the VIA and Rehoboth Art League.

There is still time for artists to sign up for this show. The deadline is Friday, March 22. Call 240-409-8800 or go to RehobothBeachVIA.org.
