Sussex County’s Open for Business workshop set March 21

The Sussex Economic Development Action Committee Inc. will host its monthly flagship event Thursday, March 21, at the Georgetown Public Library, in conjunction with a variety of local business partners.

Aspiring entrepreneurs and growing local businesses are encouraged to attend and take advantage of the free business consultation to help fine-tune business goals or improve upon current practices.

“Sussex County’s Open for Business monthly workshop event is a wonderful tool for both emerging entrepreneurs and expanding businesses, as we work with individuals to assist them in moving forward. The opportunity for our various economic development organizations to come together consistently in one room to serve as a collective resource to benefit the greater community of Sussex County is vital,” said Brenda Whitehurst, marketing manager for the YWCA Delaware Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship Sussex County.

More than 10 Delaware agencies will be on hand at the monthly workshop to serve as resources and offer one-on-one assistance. Participating organizations and agencies include Delaware Center for Enterprise Development-DSU, Delaware Economic Development Office, Delaware Manufacturing Extension Partnership, Delaware Small Business & Technology Development Center, Delaware State Treasury, Delaware Tech Entrepreneur Center, Job Center of Delaware Libraries, Southern Delaware Tourism, SCORE Delaware, Sussex County Economic Development Office, U.S. Small Business Administration, and YWCA Delaware Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship.

Advance registration is encouraged and can be done by calling 302-856-1555, or emailing sedac.business@gmail.com; indicate plan to attend, name, contact information and type of business venture. Walk-ins are also welcome.
