Randy Scott of Froggy 99.9 FM is shown talking to the Introduction to Electronic Media class of the communications program at Delaware Tech Owens Campus on March 7. Scott gave a brief overview of the radio business and answered questions ranging from how to get into the business to what type of duties an intern would be expected to perform.
“Bringing in guest speakers who work in the fields of broadcasting and print journalism reminds students that all the work they're doing is for an ultimate purpose - to get the job. It makes it real for them. Plus they can ask questions about the specific job that can only be described by someone who's working locally in the field,” said communications instructor Jessica Farley. “It also gets them started with networking, which is very important in the communications field. If a student is unsure about which of the many types of jobs to choose from in communications, these discussions can help give them focus and direction.”
