Rock and R&B legend Boz Scaggs will perform live in the Rollins Center for one show Friday, April 5, at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino.
Scaggs has put the finishing touches on his latest studio album, "Memphis," which was released March 5. Scaggs is set to tour the U.S. throughout 2013, showcasing both original songs and choice covers. With "Memphis," his first studio album in five years, Scaggs looks back musically and biographically. "Memphis" includes classic soul R&B covers like “Rainy Night in Georgia,” “Corinna Corinna” and “Mixed Up Shook Up Girl,” as well as two original compositions.
“In this case, I had been thinking about putting out a record that involved going back into the past and finding songs that match my style and my voice,” said Scaggs. With "Memphis," Scaggs has come back with a record as strong and soulful as the city’s musical legacy itself.
“Just being a singer and singing a song, I enjoy that. After all these years, after all the projects, there is nothing more satisfying than finding the elements that go into a good song and putting them together and having it all work in a balanced way. And when your love of the music and your voice can match up, it’s like flying. It’s the closest thing to transcendence. It’s a glimpse of something perfect.”
Tickets for the April 5 performance are on sale for $40-$85 and may be purchased by calling VIP Services at 800-711-5882 or going to doverdowns.com.
