Gallery One in Ocean View announces its new art show, Return of Spring, which will be on display Tuesday, March 26 to Monday, April 29.

Fifteen gallery artists will each present one work that depicts their interpretation of the theme.

Three artists responded similarly to the theme by painting daffodils and saying they thought of this flower as the first sign that winter was over. In “Field of Daffodils,” oil by Jeanne Mueller, the artist shows a mass of daffodils fronting an old gray barn. Lesley McCaskill ‘s work, an acrylic called “Spring Bulbs,” shows a clump of the bulbs in various stages of bloom drenched in sunlight. And Peggy Warfield created “April Showers Bring May Flowers,” a delightful mixed-media piece that shows a bouquet of daffodils in a glass vase.

For Dale Sheldon, a scene she experienced outside Amsterdam in the Keukenhof Gardens was the inspiration for her oil, “Blue River at Keukenhof.” In this piece Sheldon celebrates the Dutch garden designers who cleverly created an illusion of a flowing river by planting masses of grape hyacinths in a path lined irregularly with yellow tulips among tall trees that let only dappled light simmer among the flowers.

“Spring in Ocean View,” a pastel by Laura Hickman, will also be shown. In this piece, Hickman leads the viewer eye across one of the last agricultural fields in town, toward an old home surrounded by forsythia bushes.

Dianne Shearon will delight viewers with her delicately painted watercolor, “My Spring Pansy.” This work shows white vases that reflect the cool blues and rich lavenders of an overflowing arrangement of pansies and greenery.
