Roadrunners softball team goes 9-1 in Myrtle Beach

Lady Roadrunners to host Lackawanna College March 23

The Delaware Tech Owens Campus Lady Roadrunners finished spring training in Myrtle Beach, S.C., with a 9-1 record, outscoring opponents 73-10. The Roadrunners are now 11-1 overall this season and will return home Saturday, March 23, to face Lackawanna College in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.

Here are the results of the spring training games:

Delaware Tech 10, Genesee 1 (March 9) - Freshman Brittany Donalds had eight strikeouts in three innings; freshman Samantha Muir had two strikeouts in two innings and sophomore Brittany Thompson had one strikeout in one inning.

Offensively, sophomore Asia Brittingham hit a double and a triple, while sophomore Whitney Brittingham had a double, and sophomore Logan Pavlik had three hits. Pavlik also added two RBIs, while sophomore Erika McLaughlin had two RBIs and freshman Bethany Wheatley had one.

Delaware Tech 3, Waldorf College 1 (March 10) - Donalds had five strikeouts in three innings, and Thompson had one strikeout in four innings.

Offensively, freshman Kimberley Gallo knocked a home run and added an RBI, while Whitney Brittingham had two RBI.

Delaware Tech 5, Lackawanna College 0 (March 11) - Muir pitched five scoreless innings for the Lady Roadrunners, striking out five while giving up two hits. Thompson pitched two scoreless innings.

Offensively, Asia Brittingham had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs, while sophomore Amber Jeffers added an RBI.

Delaware Tech 3, Lakeland Community College 0 (March 11) - Donalds pitched seven scoreless innings, striking out 12 of the 23 batters she faced and walking just one.

Offensively, Pavlik had two hits and two RBIs, while Whitney Brittingham also added an RBI.

Southwestern Community College 1, Delaware Tech 0 (March 13) - Muir pitched five innings and struck out five, while Donalds pitched two innings and struck out four.

Offensively, freshman Kimberley Gallo had two hits, while Whitney Brittingham had one.

Delaware Tech 10, Miami University Hamilton 2 (March 13) - Thompson pitched four innings and struck out three, while Donalds pitched one inning and struck out one.

Offensively, Kimberley Gallo knocked in a home run and drove in two RBIs; Whitney Brittingham had three RBIs and McLaughlin had one. Jeffers hit a double, and Asia Brittingham had two hits.

Delaware Tech 18, Glen Oaks Community College 0 (March 14) - Donalds pitched three innings and struck out five, while Thompson pitched two innings and preserved the shut out.

Offensively, Asia Brittingham smacked a home run, and a double, and drove in 5 RBI, Kimberly Gallo had three RBI and Wheatley had two RBI. Whitney Brittingham, Pavlik and Thompson all added one RBI.

Delaware Tech 12, Lackawanna College 1 (March 14) - Muir pitched five innings and struck out three.

Offensively, Asia Brittingham and McLaughlin each knocked a home run. McLaughlin also drove in two RBI, as did Pavlik.

Delaware Tech 6, John Wood Community College 0 (March 15) - Donalds pitched six innings and struck out 13, and Muir pitched one inning and struck out one to preserve the shutout.

Offensively, Kimberley Gallo and Whitney Brittingham each knocked in a home run, with Gallo driving in an RBI.

Delaware Tech 6, North Iowa Community College 4 (March 15) - Muir pitched six innings and struck out seven, and Thompson pitched in reserve to preserve the win.

Offensively, Asia Brittingham nailed two home runs, while Whitney Brittingham hit one. Each player also had two RBIs. McLaughlin added a double and an RBI.
