Betty Joyce Merson, telephone operator

Betty Joyce Merson, 87, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully Friday, March 15, 2013, at Atlantic Shores Rehabilitation & Health Center, in Millsboro. She was born Feb. 10, 1926, in Cumberland, Md., daughter of the late Louis Raith and Ruth Felicia Mulligan Raigh. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Frank M. Merson.

For many years Mrs. Merson was a telephone operator for C & P Telephone. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, F. Larry Merson and his wife Peggy of Woodbine, Md.; a sister, Catherine Raith of Salisbury, Md.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 22, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes. Entombment will be private at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro.
