Salon Milton presents check to historical society

March 29, 2013

The Milton Historical Society received a check in the amount of $3,000 March 21 from the annual Salon Milton Fund Razor.

Shown at the check presentation are (l-r) Jeanette Wagner, MHS administrative assistant; Mary Schwanky, MHS vice president; John Bushey, MHS board of trustees president; Kevin Kelly, MHS director; John Potocki, Milton Salon owner and event organizer; T.J. Schwalm, stylist; Wanda Hammond, stylist and manicurist; Robert McGowan, stylist; Patti Nicholson, MHS visitors services; and Myra Oates, MHS volunteer.

The event received strong support from the community with generous donations of services, food, wine and auction items. Potocki, Roi Bernard, T.J. Schwalm, Kathi Burke and Robert McGowan donated salon services, while Wanda Hammond offered manicures and Julie Perez provided hand massages and makeup consultations.

The Community Bake Sale, with homemade baked goods from some of Milton’s best bakers, was a big success. Gourmet beef bourguignon served over homemade noodles was provided by chef and caterer Pat Grieninger of Almost Home Catering. Kemp’s Liquors provided a nice selection of wines for tasting. Volunteer Gladys Wilkins sold raffle tickets for items during the silent auction. This is the sixth consecutive year that Salon Milton has held a fundraiser in February to benefit the Milton Historical Society.
