Rehoboth-Dewey chamber holds ribbon cutting for Rehoboth Animal Hospital

Open house April 6 at new facility
April 4, 2013

The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony March 14 for the new, expanded facility of the Rehoboth Beach Animal Hospital, 20259 Coastal Highway. The modern, bright red two-story building next to Verizon Wireless sits at the western end of Rehoboth Avenue.

The animal hospital will host an open house from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 6. This event is open to the public and will include facility tours, refreshments and raffles to benefit the Delaware Humane Society.

Dr. Tim Dabkowski took over the practice three years ago in a smaller Route 1 location next to the Captain’s Table. “The small size of the original building was very limiting, and we built the new facility to be able to offer better and expanded services to Sussex County pet owners,” he said. In addition to having more spacious treatment and surgical rooms, upgraded x-ray, ultrasound, and laser surgery equipment have been added.

The animal hospital has four veterinarians on staff, including Dabkowski, Dr. Sarah Curtis, Dr. Sarah Hirsch and Dr. Angelika Stoutamyer, and has expanded its large staff of veterinary assistants and technicians.

The veterinarians emphasize preventative medicine, along with in-house diagnostics, to assist pet owners in keeping their pets healthy. This includes a comprehensive wellness exam to evaluate a pet’s overall health and allow early detection and treatment of abnormalities. Other services offered include vaccines, parasite prevention, in-house diagnostics, including blood work, fecal testing, urinalysis, and cytology; relationships with outside labs for special tests and pathologies; digital radiology; dental cleaning with digital dental radiology; laser therapy; soft tissue surgery; and final care and cremation services.

The Rehoboth Beach Animal Hospital is open 8:30 a.m. to 6:15 p.m., Monday to Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday. In May, it will begin offering cat boarding and appointment-only Saturday visits. Advance appointments are recommended for routine visits. Appointments can be made at www.cvh19971.com or by calling 302-227-2009.
