Women’s Day Celebration rescheduled for May 15

The 2013 Women’s Day Celebration originally scheduled for March 6, which was postponed due to bad weather, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 15. The annual event, which is presented by Delaware Tech and the Owens Campus Alumni Association, highlights the achievements of exemplary women and benefits the Alumni Association Scholarship Fund.

Henrietta Belcher-Stack, Leanne Phillips-Lowe, and Dr. Barbara Ridgely will be honored at the 19th annual celebration. The 2013 theme is Inspiring Women who Provide Leadership and Exceptional Service to Their Organizations and Communities.

The mistresses of ceremonies will be Ruth Ann Minner, former governor of Delaware, and Dr. Harriet Windsor, former secretary of state for Delaware. Both esteemed women have given their personal and professional support to this event for many years.

The underwriter for the event is Sussex County Council. Table sponsors include Delaware Electric Cooperative, University of Delaware, Wilmington University, WSFS Bank and Zumba Fitness - Corey Rose.

Tickets for the dinner are $40 per person. A cash bar begins at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Those who have already purchased tickets should call Alison Buckley, alumni coordinator, at 302-855-1607 to confirm their reservation for the new date. Those who haven’t purchased tickets can reserve them by calling the same number.
