Brandywine Senior Living announces Peep Show winners

Fundraiser to benefit Alzheimer's Association
April 5, 2013

Brandywine Senior Living at Fenwick Island hosted its very first Peep Show Fundraiser to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association with hundreds of individual, group and business entries.

“This has been a lot of fun. Many local businesses and area residents entered their displays made out of marshmallow peeps and bunnies. We raised $500 for the Alzheimer’s Association,” said Kathy Jacobs, director of Community Relations for Brandywine Senior Living at Fenwick Island.

Thirteen dioramas made out of hundreds of marshmallow Easter peeps and bunnies were on display March 28 at Brandywine Senior Living during the Peep Show Happy Hour. “We have had a great turnout. Everyone is asking if we will do this again next year. My answer, absolutely!”  said Jacobs.

Michele Wagner of M&T Bank and Kathy Jacobs of Brandywine Senior Living came up with the Peep Show idea as a way to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association and get the community involved in a fun way. “Last year our residents created their own pin-up calendar; we raised over $5,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. This year we decided to kick off our fundraising efforts with a Peep Show,” said Wagner.

The team from the Coastal Point newspaper walked away with first place, La Vita Bella Day Spa took second, and Delmarva Unleashed placed third. “There were many local businesses that entered and did a fabulous job. I can’t thank everyone enough for all of their efforts. This has been fun!” said Jacobs.

Every year, the staff of Brandywine Senior Living enters a team in the Rehoboth Beach Alzheimer’s Walk. “We start out fundraising efforts early to maximize the totals,” said Jacobs. This year’s Alzheimer’s Walk is at Grove Park in Rehoboth at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 12. Anyone interested in joining Brandywine’s team to Walk to End Alzheimer’s may do so by contacting Jacobs at 302-436-0808. Those who are unable to participate but would like to contribute can do so at Brandywine Senior Living at Fenwick Island.

A community Alzheimer’s support group meeting is held the second Tuesday of every month at 1:30 p.m. at Brandywine Senior Living at Fenwick Island. For more information call 302-436-0808.
