Briggs King cosponsors bill to make state government more open
Retiring legislators could not immediately become lobbyists

State Rep. Ruth Briggs King, R-Georgetown, in front, recently took part in a press conference announcing a package of five bills aimed at making state government more open and efficient. Briggs King is a prime sponsor of one of the bills. The legislation that she is sponsoring would require a two-year cooling-off period before a former legislator can act as a lobbyist.
