Freedoms being stripped away

April 5, 2013

The following letter was sent to Delaware's Republican legislators with a copy submitted to the Cape Gazette for publication.

A house divided against itself cannot stand. Please stop giving away our rights for the sake of your own re-election campaigns.

There is no question that the vote you took stripped more of our rights away from the people you represent. The road you are on leads to a slow, but steady disarming of our citizenry.

It does not matter to me whether you are just nipping at the edges for the sake of being able to say “I did something!” for political reasons, or whether you are adamant about taking away our freedoms. The only thing that matters to the majority of your citizens is that you are stripping more of our rights away.

When you strip away the rights of the citizens that you represent in the name of politics is it any wonder why the approval rating for the Republican Party is near record lows? What difference is there between you and your Democrat opponents? The only answer I can think of is just the speed at which you strip away our freedoms.

Please, just stop playing politics. Please take a stand for individual freedom. Maximum personal freedom with maximum personal responsibility.
