I believe, Milton, we have put ourselves in very capable hands. Mayor Marion Jones, after her swearing in, gave the oath to new council members John Collier and Mike Cote. Then she asked that the formal meeting be temporarily halted so everyone could participate in a short reception. What a great idea! Then back to the business at hand.
Our new mayor heard from citizens on the many issues facing our town. Regrettably, there was the emotional eye witness accounts of possible Milton police overreacting on Milton roadways. There was an issue raised about possible information being withheld from council before their March vote on moving forward on the water system referendum. One citizen, making a request to start a business in his home was disappointed I'm sure, when council had to deny the request.
A lot happens at council meetings and as Milton has seen over the years, decisions made by mayor and council can and often do, have far-reaching effects. How important is it do you suppose, that Milton have a mayor who looks at every issue from every possible angle, who listens and knows that she and her council are here to serve the people and the best interests of our town? We saw these strengths from Marion from her council seat. How fortunate to have her in the mayoral seat. Congratulations to Marion Jones.
Congratulations, Milton!
