Baseball is finally here - does anyone have a sure pick to win the World Series?

April 4, 2013

Yes, I too was getting tired of the prolonged spring training for baseball this year. This 2013 season is critical for the Phillies because it's probably the last chance of making the playoffs with this core group of players. I'm referring specifically to Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Roy "Doc" Halladay, all of whom are coming off some sort of injury from last season. Let's get this COLD spring weather out of here and bring on the baseball season with the warm days of summer!

In golf this week on the LPGA tour, the Kraft Nabisco Championship is being played at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif. This is the women's version of the men's Masters Tournament. The Golf Channel is covering the entire tournament and will offer up some really good golf to watch. I will give you my preview of the upcoming Masters Tournament next week.

This weekend brings the finish to this year's wildly unpredictable March Madness of college basketball.  I had picked Miami to win, but with the Hurricanes now out of the running, I'm going to root for Louisville to take it all. Kevin Ware's horrific injury and his team's efforts to not let this affect them negatively has me in their corner. The Delaware women's basketball team's run has come to an end but they had a great season! They came so close to beating Kentucky, and Elena Delle Donne was truly their biggest asset scoring 30-plus points each game of the tournament. I can't wait to see what professional team picks her up. The men's basketball coverage to finish out the tournament will be on CBS on Saturday, April 6, and Monday, April 8;  the women's basketball Final Four will be on ESPN Sunday, April 7, with the championship Tuesday, April 9.
