Mispillion Kennel Club to offer Intro to Rally class starting April 18

April 7, 2013

Rally is a sanctioned American Kennel Club sport performed by a dog and handler team working together to complete a series of obedience commands in sequence.

This sport tests the handler's skill in maneuvering the course and the dog's skill in obeying the command of the owner to complete each obstacle. In a competition, time and accuracy determine the points allocated to the team. There are three levels of competition from novice to excellent.

The first Novice Rally Class for Mispillion Kennel Club will begin from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 18, and run six weeks. This class will be on leash to start. Dogs must have taken a previous obedience class and be capable of passing a Canine Good Citizen test, if required, to compete in this sport. The cost for this class is $75, payable by check or cash, no credit cards.

Handlers do not have to be athletes to perform Rally; dogs will enjoy working with their handlers in this wonderful game.
