Delaware Dance Alliance to perform 'Alice in Wonderland' April 27

April 12, 2013

Delaware Dance Alliance, which produced the original "Twilight Ballet" and "Pirates of the Caribbean," announces its spring 2013 performance of "Alice in Wonderland" at the Schwartz Center for the Arts Saturday, April 27.

This highly entertaining one-act ballet tells a story of a girl named Alice who, when she’s dreaming, falls down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world populated by a variety of very peculiar creatures.

The performance, filled with fun, frills, excitement and wonder, proves to be a delight for audiences of all ages. Before the 6 p.m. curtain call, Delaware Read Aloud will host a Mad Hatter Tea Party featuring the cast. The Tea Party begins at 4:30 p.m. and guests are invited to dress up in their favorite "Alice in Wonderland" outfit including hats, gloves and boas!

This special ballet production is made possible through the cooperative efforts of people who support and promote the art of dance. This performance of "Alice in Wonderland" is restaged from a version choreographed by former Mid Atlantic Ballet Artistic Director Emeritus Sara Taylor-Warner.

With Warner’s consent, Delaware Dance Alliance’s director Michele Xiques incorporated some of her own original, innovative choreography that will be performed by the "Alice in Wonderland" cast. The story idea, costumes and sets are all courtesy of MAB with director Patrick Korstange.

Reservations are required for the 4:30 p.m. Mad Hatter Tea Party. For tickets, call 302-674-4423.

Tickets to the 6 p.m. ballet can be purchased at the Schwartz Center box office, 226 South State St., Dover, at www.schwartzcenter.com or 302-678-5152.
