April 11, 2013

Students from the Sussex Academy of Arts & Sciences in Georgetown have recently earned success in several writing competitions. Two students received awards for the 2013 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.

Shown (l-r) are Sarah Ashmore, who earned a Silver Key for her poem, "Death," and honorable mention for her short story, "The Missing"; Taryn Wood, who earned a Silver Key for her flash fiction, "Trapped with the Enemy"; and Karen Hugues, writing teacher. The students were honored at an awards ceremony in Dover Feb. 9.

First-place winners also had their pieces published, and all winners were recognized in the September issue of Delaware Beach Life magazine.
