Upper Crust exhibits folk artist Pamella Bounds-Seemans through May
The Upper Crust at 7 East Market St. in Georgetown is currently exhibiting award-winning folk artist Pamella Bounds-Seemans, who was born in Milton, has a home there and currently lives in Wilmington. Her colorful art is known as fun, funky and folk, and uses plenty of jewel-encrusted frame color.
Bounds-Seemans is known for painting local scenes as well as creative, whimsical, beach-themed works. Fish, mermaids and seahorses are among some of her creations. Her exhibit will continue until mid-May.
She has exhibited throughout her 30-year career in New Mexico, Virginia, Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach. Her work can be found at the Tideline Gallery in Rehoboth Beach and Blue Streak Gallery in Wilmington.
Bounds-Seemans’ mother had much influence on her life and work. Her mother’s home was like a folk art museum, and her whimsical outside art is a liberation from the simplicity that often defined its traditional form. In addition to being an artist, Bounds-Seemans and her husband have raised three children.
She has had numerous awards, been in many publications and has made a number of television appearances. Her work can be found included in several collections in Washington, D.C.; Baltimore, Md.; Wilmington; and Family Court of Delaware, as well as private collections throughout the United States, Europe and Japan.
