Pennies for the Proud

April 25, 2013

The H.O. Brittingham Service Club has dedicated the month of April to our troops who have been wounded while in the line of duty.

During a weekly meeting with the HOB Service Club members, program mentor Mrs. Hoffman said she was pleasantly surprised when the students requested to adopt this project.

“I had a list of community service organizations from which the students could choose. At the time of that particular meeting, I had forgotten to add The Wounded Warrior Project. The students immediately noticed this and reprimanded me for forgetting about our soldiers."

Students collected jars, staff collected pennies and teacher Jesse Lausch provided the artwork for the Wounded Warrior design.

The mission of the Wounded Warrior Project is “to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation’s history,” Hoffman said.

“The HOB family is proud to help raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members,” she said.

Families and local organizations who wish to participate should collect their pennies and drop them off at H.O. Brittingham Elementary School in Milton.
