Cloud 9 demolition postponed

April 19, 2013

Cloud 9 restaurant in Rehoboth Beach will get a second life after being slated for demolition earlier this month.

Building inspector Terri Sullivan said owner James J. Matthews contacted the office and informed her the building would be rented out for the summer season.

A demolition permit had been posted on the building and scheduled for as early as April 11.

Rehoboth’s building and licensing department and demolition contractor John Macklin and Son both said they were notified the demolition was off, and the building would be kept in place at least through summer.  However, who is renting the building could not be determined at press time.

Matthews could not be reached for comment.
