Double CD release at Bethany Blues April 26

April 23, 2013

Scott Ramminger, saxophonist/singer songwriter, and Andy Poxon, guitarist/singer/songwriter, are touring in support of the recent release of Ramminger’s “Advice From a Father to a Son" and Poxon’s “Tommorrow." They will perform Friday, April 26, at Bethany Blues in Lewes.

Ramminger and Poxon, who frequently perform in each others bands, have teamed to do a series of co-billed shows throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, with stops in Nashville, Tenn.; Roanoke, Va.; Harrisonburg, Va.; Annapolis, Md.; Washington, D.C.; and more.

The mixture of Ramminger’s gumbo-infused New Orleans blues, funk and swing with Poxon’s rootsy soul create a powerful combination as the pair play down originals from both their new CDs and some great covers as well. These shows have been packing clubs up and down the East Coast.

Ramminger’s CD, recorded largely in New Orleans, features some of that city’s top players, including guitarist Shane Theriot; bassist George Porter, Jr.; keys wizard David Torkanowsky; and drummer Johnny Vidacovich. The Feb. 26 release has already garnered airplay from Sirius/XM’s Bluesville channel and stations around the U.S. and the world, along with great reviews from national publications.

Poxon’s new disc was produced by guitar legend Duke Robillard, founder of Roomful of Blues, who also plays on the record extensively, along with members of Duke's band.

Ramminger and Poxon are both based in the Washington, D.C. area, and perform regularly with their own bands throughout the Mid-Atlantic - often together. On any given night in the DC area, audiences might find Poxon playing guitar and singing with Scott Ramminger and the Crawstickers or Ramminger playing sax and singing with The Andy Poxon Band.

Showtime is 8:30 p.m. and is free.  Go to bethanyblues.com/lewes for more information.
