Sales of bracelets during May to benefit research and outreach
April 28, 2013

Dressbarn, the women's specialty apparel retailer, celebrates its 10th year as an American Cancer Society Relay For Life National Corporate Team Program member. As part of the company's commitment to help raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society's ongoing research initiatives, outreach and support programs, Dressbarn stores nationwide, including Dressbarn in Rehoboth Beach, located at Tanger Seaside in Tanger Outlets, will feature the 2013 version of their signature Hope Bracelet. Sales of the bracelet support the American Cancer Society's mission to finish the fight and create a world with more birthdays.

Beginning May 1, all Dressbarn stores and dressbarn.com will sell the exclusive 2013 Hope Bracelet for $10, through May 31, while supplies last. Dressbarn will contribute the entire net profit of $5 to the American Cancer Society. Added to this contribution will be the dollars raised through Dressbarn's associate and community involvement in Relay For Life events.

Throughout the spring and summer, Relay For Life teams in the Rehoboth Beach area will become part of a community of more than 3.5 million people throughout the United States and in 19 other countries who participate in Relay For Life events each year.

In 2012, more than 250 dressbarn and maurice's teams comprised of customers, executives and associates, participated in Relay For Life events in their communities and raised more than $1 million through in-store initiatives and the dressbarn Foundation donation. To date, Dressbarn and maurice's have given more than $9 million to the American Cancer Society to support local and national cancer initiatives.

The American Cancer Society's work has contributed to a 20 percent decline in cancer death rates in the US since the early 1990s, saving nearly 1.2 million lives during that time. Dressbarn in Rehoboth Beach has participated in fundraising efforts that support the research and outreach efforts behind these statistics.

"For the past ten years we have been lucky enough to take part in these life-changing events that help communities celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and fight back against the disease," said Jeff Gerstel, president of Dressbarn.
