Exciting new classes and returning favorites are available at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Delaware in Lewes for the 2013 summer session in June. The four-week June session offers classes for people 50 and over on a wide array of topics for a modest fee of $50.
“We have an exciting lineup of 34 classes for our four-week June session that offers something for everyone. New additions make up half the classes, and of course, many familiar favorites are back by popular demand,” said Program Coordinator Anna Moshier. “Our June session is an excellent way to get a taste of the Osher lifelong learning program. The fall and spring semesters offer over 60 classes that meet five and 10 weeks.”
Some of the new classes for the 2013 summer session, which runs Monday, June 3, through Thursday, June 27, include Beginning Italian, How the Brain Works, Beginning and Intermediate Computer, Sussex County Perspectives and A Guide to Understanding Annuities.
Some returning favorites include Crash Course on Plant-Based Eating, Delaware’s Naval Heritage, Two Operas about Tragic Love, English Country Dance and Basketry.

Registration is underway now and the deadline for priority registration is Thursday, May 16. Also, new this session, registration and payment are available online. As in the past, registration also is available by mail or in person at the Osher Lewes office, Lewes School, 820A Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes at the University of Delaware are membership organizations that provide opportunities for adults 50 and over to learn, teach and travel with their peers. There are no academic requirements for admission. The only requirements are an interest in a continuing educational experience, support of the programs through participation and the modest membership fee. UD’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes are located in Wilmington, Dover and Lewes.
