PPP to perform 'Les Miserables' Sept. 20 to Oct. 7

'And Then There Were None' set for June 14-23 Dinner Theater
May 3, 2013

Possum Point Players will be presenting "Les Misérables" for three weekends in September and October. "Les Misérables" is the world's longest-running musical sensation, winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score. The Possum Point Players will be the first theater group in Delaware to produce the complete Broadway version of this musical masterpiece.

The Possum Point Players are modifying their 40th Anniversary Season to accommodate this opportunity. Their June mystery, Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None," will now be their dinner theater offering. Directed by Titia Halfen, the story involves 10 guilty strangers trapped on an island. One by one, they are accused of murder. One by one, they start to die. "And Then There Were None" will be presented Friday and Saturday, June 14, 15, 21 and 22, with dinner at 6 p.m. and show at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, June 16 and 23, with dinner at 12:30 p.m. and show at 2 p.m. Tickets are $45 for dinner and show or $20 for show only.

"Les Misérables" will be presented by the Possum Point Players in the fall. With a book by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, music by Claude-Michel Schönberg and lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, this well-known musical, directed by Kenney Workman, is about Jean Valjean, a peasant who breaks his parole and starts his life anew, and is relentlessly tracked down by Inspector Javert. "Les Misérables" will be presented Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20, 21, 27, 28 and Oct. 4 and 5, at 7:30 p.m. and Sept. 22, 29 and Oct. 6 at 2 p.m.. Tickets are $23 for adults and $22 for seniors/students.

Auditions for "Les Misérables" will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday-Tuesday, June 2-4, at Possum Hall. Those auditioning should bring a prepared vocal selection, and there may be some limited dance movement required, so dress comfortably. Anyone who cannot make those dates, has any questions or wishes to volunteer in a backstage capacity should call director Kenney Workman at 302-245-2755.

Also, the Possum Point Players are presenting the holiday comedy "Christmas Belles," written by Jessie Jones, Nicolas Hope and Jamie Wooten, in December. Directed by Titia Halfen, the story follows a church Christmas program that spins hilariously out of control in this Southern farce about squabbling sisters, family secrets, a surly Santa, a vengeful sheep and a reluctant Elvis impersonator. "Christmas Belles" will be presented Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6, 7, 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 8 and 15 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $23 for adults and $22 seniors/students.

The Possum Point Players are offering a special Three-Show Combo Ticket to see all three shows for $82 or $79 for seniors and students, which is a savings of $9 off the full price. This price includes dinner at the Dinner Theater Show. For more details visit www.possumpointplayers.org or call the Possum Ticketline at 302-856-4560.

Possum Point Players is supported, in part, by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
