Virginia E. Adams, retired bookkeeper

Mrs. Virginia E. Adams, 86, of Laurel, formerly of Long Neck, passed away Monday, April 29, 2013.

 

Virginia was born in Millsboro, Feb. 7, 1927, to the late Ollie Francis and Amelia Lowe Hudson. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by a brother, Alton Hudson and his wife Louise; and a brother-in-law Charles Morio.

 

Virginia was a bookkeeper for W.C. Littleton in Laurel for many years.

She was a member of the First State Tractor Club, former member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Laurel, and the Indian River Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to read, take pictures, work on the family tree, to go out to eat and loved her son-in-law Robert’s cooking. She collected salt and pepper shakers and tea pots. She never met anyone she didn’t like.

 

She was very proud of her grandfather, Joe Ben Hudson, who lived to be 108 years old. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who especially adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, James W. Adams of Laurel; a daughter, Gail Stevenson and her husband Robert of Seaford; two brothers, Francis Hudson and wife Virginia of Seaford, and Vernon Hudson and wife Madeline of Laurel; sister, Josephine Morio of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; granddaughter, Tracy Ellsworth and husband Allen of Seaford; two great-grandchildren, Matthew Adams and Justin Ellsworth; and her beloved granddog Shiloh. She is also survived by extended family members and friends.

 

A funeral service will be held at noon, Friday, May 3, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., where friends may call after 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Carey’s Cemetery, Millsboro. Pastor Jeff Hudson will officiate.
