Delmarva Power installing new lines, poles at Five Points

May 17, 2013

Delmarva Power is installing four new poles to support new power lines near Five Points.

“We are rebuilding the transmission and distribution systems between Five Points substation and Wescoats Corner. Technically, this will complete a multiyear rebuild between Harbeson and Lewes near Cape Henlopen High School,” Matt Likovich, Delmarva Power spokesman said.

Subcontractor C.W. Wright Construction Co. of Richmond Va. began work on the project May 8.

A company lineman, shown, prepares existing lines along Route 9 near where new lines will tie into the system.

Likovich said new poles would be installed through the end of the month, and crews would return in the fall to complete the work.

“This segment is critical though, since it crosses all lanes of Route 1 at Five Points. We have cleared all of this with DelDOT,” Likovich said May 9.
