We will not forget Lopez's vote

May 16, 2013

While not unexpected, your vote no on HB 75, The Delaware Marriage Equity Act, still was a big disappointment. I emailed you several weeks ago and you did not have the courtesy to respond, a first from a Delaware politician.

Your vote was a slap in the face to me as a gay state employee. Your vote showed me you did not care about me as your constituent. You proved to your district, which has the fourth largest concentration of gay and lesbian couples in the United States, that you are an interloper who slipped by us once, who does not understand us, and who does not care that he is on the wrong side of equality, justice and history.

You proved to us in the LGBT community and everyone else who cares about equality, that we were asleep at the switch when you won election and we can't let that happen again. And you can be sure, if you choose to run for office again, we will not forget your no vote on HB 75, and we will not be asleep at the switch next time.

Thank you governor, Pete and all the rest of the Delaware politicians who truly cared and supported HB 75.
