Second Saturday amateur art contest a success

Next Second Saturday comes June 8
May 25, 2013

Mosaic’s Second Saturday Art Walk in downtown Rehoboth Beach expanded in May to include other retailers. For the initial launch of Second Saturday’s expansion, several store and restaurant owners entered an amateur art contest. Store and restaurant owners adorned their windows with their amateur art, and patrons received ballots and were able to choose their top three entries.

South Moon Under won the competition with window art with ocean themes completed by a talented employee. Azura Clothing came in second with an anchor painting, and C.L.A.D. was third with a canvas of an oversized sun.

Additional entries that were favorites were Sea Shell Shop’s watercolors and Quiet Storm’s Aztec-inspired windows.

Each ballot filled out entered patrons to win $100 in Main Street Gift Certificates. The winner of the gift card was Steph David.

In the future, Second Saturdays will continue to grow and many stores will have art-focused events to coincide with Mosaic’s Art Walk, which features an association of 11 art galleries whose goal is to promote art awareness in Rehoboth Beach.

The next Second Saturday is slated for June 8.
