Dewey deserves kudos for new noise law

May 23, 2013

I would like to thank and congratulate the Dewey Beach Town Council for unanimously passing changes to the business noise ordinance, as recommended by the Quality of Life Committee. These changes prove that Dewey commissioners are doing exactly what they promised when elected, and protecting and caring about the rights of everyone in our community. The ordinance can be seen on the town's website, as well as the town meeting of May 11, when it was passed.

In previous seasons, there were homes in our town that actually shook and had their windows rattle, due to the high bass levels emanating from some establishments. I believe the changes to the ordinance were necessary, fair and enforceable, and will improve the Dewey Beach way of life for residents, visitors and businesses alike.

I would also like to mention that with the Memorial Day weekend upon us, problems and disturbances of any non-emergency nature should be reported to the Dewey Beach Police at 302-227-1110.
