'And Then There Were None' runs through June 23 as dinner theater
The Possum Point Players have set up one of the most famous mysteries for the stage, "And Then There Were None." In 1943, Agatha Christie adapted her famous novel for the stage. This mystery is Christie's best-selling story, with 100 million sales to date, making it the world's best-selling mystery ever, and one of the best-selling books of all time.
In the mystery, 10 people who had knowledge or took part causing in the deaths of other human beings but either escaped notice or were not subject to legal sanction are lured into coming to an island. Eight people - Sir Lawrence Wargrave (Doug Friend of Lewes), Vera Claythorne (Kim Klabe of Rehoboth Beach), Philip Lombard (Matt King of Georgetown), General McKenzie (Thomas Scott Roberts of Lewes), Emily Brent (Sharon George of Bridgeville), Anthony Marston (Logan Lynch of Georgetown), Dr. Edward Armstrong (Dennis McGeady of Bridgeville) and William Blore (John Marino of Lewes) - have been invited to a mansion on the fictional Soldier Island off the coast of Devon, England.
Upon arriving, they are told by the butler and cook, a married couple, Thomas and Ethel Rogers (John and Maureen Levine of Smyrna), that their hosts are away. Although they are the only people on the island and cannot escape due to the distance from the mainland and the inclement weather, each guest is killed in a manner seeming to parallel the deaths detailed in the “Ten Little Soldier Boys” nursery rhyme, which concludes "and then there were none."
"And Then There Were None" is being performed Friday and Saturday, June 21 and 22, with dinner at 6 p.m. and show at 7:30 p.m. It also is being performed Sunday, June 23, with dinner at 12:30 p.m. and show at 2 p.m. Tickets are $45 for dinner and show or $20 for show only. There is also a three-show combo ticket available for $82 ($79 seniors/students), which includes dinner and the remaining three shows of the Possums season.
