Shields students keep an eye out for dolphins

June 13, 2013

A dolphin watch cruise on Parsons' boats has become an end-of-the-school-year tradition for Shields Elementary School first-grade students. Each year students leave Fisherman's Wharf for a cruise out of Lewes-Rehoboth Canal, through Roosevelt Inlet and out into Delaware Bay.

Teachers say some trips are better than others. Most years, dolphins come up to play near the boats. This year, dolphins were spotted, but only in the distance.
