South Coastal Library teams with New York Life to offer free child ID

Events June 20, July 11 and Aug. 1 aim at keeping children safe
June 12, 2013

The New York Life Insurance Company and the South Coastal Library will team up to provide free child ID cards from 10 a.m. to noon June 20, July 11 and Aug. 1. The parent or legal guardian must be present to provide authorization to create the card, which includes fingerprint, photo, and vital statistics. Anyone under the age of 18, or has their parent/legal guardian with them, is welcome to attend.

Parents, guardians, and adults who care for children face constant challenges when trying to help keep children safer in today’s fast-paced world. A total of 800,000 children in America are reported missing each year, or 2,000 every day, according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Child ID programs can provide families with child identification materials that may prove critical should an emergency occur.

Story times will be offered during these times, for up to ages 5 years old. Registration will be held in the Children’s Room, beginning at 10 a.m. Help to keep children safe and enjoy the library at the same time. South Coastal Library is located at 45 Kent Ave. in Bethany Beach.  For more information, call the library at 302-539-5231.
